The Emergency Food Assistance Program
(TEFAP)

The Emergency Food Assistance Program is a U.S. Department of Agriculture food supplemental program administered through the Maryland Food Bank (MFB), under contract with the Maryland Department of Human Resources (DHR), and implemented by our agency for Charles, Calvert, and St. Mary’s counties.
In FY18 the agency served nineteen (19) food pantries and (1) shelter. Food is received once per month into the warehouse located in Calvert County and distributed to the authorized sites. They, in turn, distribute the food to qualified, low-income households throughout the three counties. Hundreds of volunteers assist this process.
This program allows SMTCCAC to continue in its capacity as link in the safety net for families facing food insecurity.
